David Nicholson had the following grants of land: 18 acres, Edgefield, March 1, 1801; 134 acres, Ninety Six, Nov. 6, 1786.

David Nicholson was a soldier in the Revolution. His pay record shows that he received pay for militia duty rendered after the fall of Charleston, May 12, 1780. The account was one of those rendered by Col. Robert Anderson. Col. Anderson had been assigned the duty of Commissioner of Ninety Six District of obtaining the records of that district and passing upon them himself. The bills all read,'duty per Col. Anderson's return.' The Justice of the Peace (Russell Wilson) before whom David Nicholson made his affidavit recites that the service was done in Col. Purvis's Regiment.

Will of Benjamin Whitehead (From Abs. in Kendal, England Mercury),states that correspondent Mr. F.A. Winder, of London, thinks "Richard,the son, came to VA." (From Critie, Vo. III., No. 35). The Name ofWhitehead is found in many early VA records.
Thomas Whitehead was granted land in New Kent 1677. Authur & John Whitehead was granted land between 1720 and 1740. An article in the Western Mag. of Hist., Dec. 1889, Dr. William Whitehead mentions his grandfather, William Whitehead and his great uncle Dr. Nathan Colgate Whitehead (b. in Southhampton co., Ap. 8, 1792, d. 1856), who was father of John B. Whitehead, a mayor of Norfolk, VA.
William Whitehead m. Mary Ann Boykin, and had issue; 1. Ann; 2.Col. William, b. 1807; d. 1877; m. Eleline Reddick; 3. Martha.
