Dave Sly was born (unk). He married Jamie Cathleen McGonnell on 4 Jul 1992 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Jamie Cathleen McGonnell [Parents] was born 3 Nov 1972 in Norman, Oklahoma. She married Dave Sly on 4 Jul 1992 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

They had the following children:

  M i
Christian Gabriel Sly was born 10 Apr 1997.
  M ii
Cameron John Sly was born 17 Jul 2000 in Wichita, KS.

William McGonnell [Parents] was born 17 Feb 1968 in Edmond, Oklahoma. He married Sasha Ann Truman on 14 Jun 1997 in Wolf, Oklahoma.

Sasha Ann Truman was born 18 May 1972 in Fort Belknap, Montana. She married William McGonnell on 14 Jun 1997 in Wolf, Oklahoma.

They had the following children:

  F i
Zoe Redwing Mary McGonnell was born 19 Mar 2002 in Plano, Texas.

John Golden was born 1820 in New York. He died about 1860 in Tennessee. John married Sarah J Nichols on 18 Nov 1852 in Franklin County, Tennessee.

John Golden living in Franklin County, TN during 1850 Census (Sarah also living in that county).  The man in this census is 30 years old, living alone, and is from New York.

Sarah J Nichols [Parents] was born 17 Dec 1836 in Tennessee (Franklin County, Probably). She died 7 Mar 1910 in (probably Tennessee). Sarah married John Golden on 18 Nov 1852 in Franklin County, Tennessee.

Other marriages:
Woll, Valentin

Although Sarah appears as "Dorah" in the 1880 census, I believe this was just an error on the part of the person who did the transcription.  In the 1870 Census, her name is clearly "Sarah".  This is consistent with family recollection.

Sarah was born in Tennessee and married a man with the last name of "Golden" sometime around 1853.  They had three children.  It's is possible that he died around 1860 and she remarried Valentin Woll (AKA Valentine Wool).  Their first child was born in 1863

They had the following children:

F i Mary Ann "Molly" Teresa Golden was born 2 Nov 1853 and died 28 Feb 1941.
  M ii
Thomas J Golden was born 1855 in Tennessee. He died (unknown).

Thomas is age 15 and living with his mother and step-father and siblings in Alabama during the 1870 Census.

I searched the 1880 census for any Thomas Golden born in 1855 and only found one who was born in Tennessee.  He's living in San Francisco, California with his young wife (Vinnie) and infant son, Francis.  Since his sister had a daughter named "Vinnie", it's likely that this Thomas is the correct one for this family.

I searched for every "Golden" born in Tennessee and living in California at the time of the 1880 census and this one is the only person who appeared.  Here's the census info for his family:

Household:

Name  Relation Marital Status Gender Race Age Birthplace Occupation Father's Birthplace Mother's Birthplace
Thomas J. GOLDEN   Self   M   Male   W   25   TN   Huckster   TN   TN
Vinnie C. GOLDEN   Wife   M   Female   W   23   CA   Keeping House   IRE IRE
Francis GOLDEN   Son   S   Male   W   9M   CA      TN   CA

Again, this isn't a certainty that THIS is the correct Thomas Golden.  But there's a strong liklihood.
  F iii
Margaret "Maggie" Golden was born about 1859 in Tennessee. She died (unknown).

Margaret is age 12 and living with her mother and step-father and siblings in Alabama during the 1870 Census.

Margaret "Maggie" is age 21 and living with her mother and step-father and siblings in Tennessee during the 1880 Census.

James Nichols was born 1800 in Tennessee. He married Ann S.

James and wife and kids appear in the 1850 Franklin County, Tennessee Census.  According to this census, he was born in Tennessee.  All the kids were born in TN.  Ann was born in SC.

They had the following children:

M i Angel Jesus "AJ" Sales was born 24 Jul 1947.

John Crockett [Parents] was born 29 Feb 1780 in Mecklinburg, North Carolina. He died 9 Mar 1858 in Coffee County, Tennessee and was buried in Crockett Cemetery, Coffee County, Tennessee.. John married Mary Cowan.

1850 census shows he and wife Mary (both age 70) living near their son, John T and family. The report lists their birth place as "North Carolina"

John was born in 1780 at a time when people lived much the way they had for 400 years.  He probably married in Georgia, some time near the turn of the century (1800).

If you could walk into his farmhouse, you might be tempted to think: "Yes, I could live like this." A cozy hearth, tidy living space, doting wife, children at your feet, hand-made and beautifully crafted furniture, well tended gardens - what's not to like?

Well, in fact, there was quite a bit not to like.  On any given day, the inhabitants of an early 19th century  Georgia farmhouse would have been choking on the smoke from their fireplace, juggling a chamber pot, hauling water from a polluted well, or chopping wood until their arms were numb. And on a really bad day, someone - a family member, friend, or neighbor - would have been dying prematurely from typhoid, cholera, food poisoning, or simple infection.

Short Early History of Coffee County
Coffee County was formed on January 8, 1836, from parts of Franklin, Bedford, and Warren Counties. It was named after Gen. John Coffee, a close friend of Andrew Jackson and a hero of the War of 1812 and the Creek (Indian) War. Many in the Legislature wanted to name the new county "Webster", in honor of Jonathan Webster, the Speaker of the Senate and a resident of the Noah community. In the end the name Coffee won out by one vote.

Mary Cowan [Parents] was born 17 Nov 1779 in Rowan County North Carolina. She died 17 AUG 1852 or 1857 in Coffee County, Tennessee. Mary married John Crockett.

1850 Coffee County, Tennessee, census shows Mary was born in "NC"

Mary was born in 1779.  The dress pictured here is from 1795 and is representative of a "day dress" (something for everyday wear).  Mary would likely have worn something like this as a young woman of 20.

Mary was bearing and raising children for the first quarter century of 1800.  What was life like for her?  Many of us today would find it hard to comprehend the sheer physical labor, the unrelenting drudgery, of daily life in 1800. Picture hauling all your water from wells, because public reservoirs and waterworks were only beginning to be developed. Picture clearing your land and plowing it with nothing but a wooden plow and oxen or horses -- John Deere's metal plow didn't come along until mid century. Picture raising your own animals and butchering your own meat, gathering eggs, milking cows, churning milk into butter. Picture raising your own fruits and vegetables, preserving and pickling and smoking all your own food, because canning factories didn't come along until 1820 and artificial refrigeration wasn't available until the 1860's. Picture boiling tubs full of water to do laundry, wringing it by hand, and heating irons in the fire to press it.

Now imagine doing all of this with six children under the age of 10.

Mary was one of 13 children born to her parents.  At some point, she left North Carolina and moved to Tennessee where she lived out her married life.  Those who moved west in the early 1800s were effectively lost to their families, since going back for a visit was a major undertaking, and the only communication was by letters, if you could find someone to carry them. It wasn't until 1861 that telegraph wires stretched across the continent (making the Pony Express, created in 1860, no longer necessary).

They had the following children:

  M i
Male Crockett was born 1802.
M ii William Cowan Crockett was born 22 Apr 1803 and died 24 Sep 1890.
  F iii
Female Crockett was born 1804.

=======================================

From a cousin, Tom Pulley:  "According to the bible, Gideon's children were: Polly (b- either 8/21/1808 or 8/26/1809) Elizabeth b-12/17/1810, George b-2/1/1813, Thomas b-9/24/1815, Charlotte (Lottie) b-5/6/1818, Nancy b-7/31/1820, Robert b-12/27/1822, Wade b-12/13/1824, Bartlett b-4/5/1827, and Teerah (sometimes listed as Terah or Teressa) 2/5/1836.

I have two separate pieces of data that reference the bible and for some reason, they give different birth dates for Polly (perhaps it's not written that clearly).  All the other dates agree.  Some of the dates of death listed are: George 5/22/1871 (Mississippi), Robert 4/10/1901(Huntsville, AL), Wade 4/1862 (Shiloh TN. - think I said earlier 1861- shame on me), and Bartlett 4/17/1857 (there is a margin note that says "Texas-killed").

The marriages that are listed are: George to Sarah Winton 11/25/1841, Elizabeth to Hardin Landreth 7/6/1845, Charlotte to John T. Crockett (no date), Robert to Georgia Strong 1/20/1857 in Huntsville AL., Wade to Elizabeth A. between 1850 and 1860 (obviously from census data). Terah to Charles Smith between 1850 and 1860."

Hannah Lackey [Parents] was born 1788 in North Carolina. She died after 1870 in Hillsborro, Coffee County, Tennessee. Hannah married Gideon Nicholson Pulley.

William Cowan [Parents] 1 was born bet 1730 and 1740 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.. He died after 1789 in Wilkes Co ., Georgia.. William married Sarah Stewart on 23 Dec 1759 in Rowan County, North Carolina..

Source:  http://awt.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:1832659&id=I00094&ti=5537&track=AFT9

William Cowan was certainly among the earlier Cowan settlers in Rowan
Co., NC. Of the 3 known c. 1720 immigrant brothers--John, William, and
David--members of John's family came first to Rowan Co.from PA, then
William's, and finally David's. Attempting to differentiate between the
early Rowan Co. William Cowans is nearly impossible; for there was this
William, his uncle William, Sr., his cousin William, Jr. and perhaps
even another cousin William.

In Feb 1759, a William Cowan received a 584 acre grant on the south side
of Fourth Creek from Lord Granville. In Feb. 1760, a William Cowan
received a 453 acre grant on the north side of Second Creek from Lord
Granville. Fleming claims that both of these grants were to William
Cowan, Sr., uncle of the subject of this sketch. At least one (probably
the latter), and perhaps both, could have easily been to this William
Cowan, born c. 1734.

The will of John Cowan of Lancaster Co., PA is dated 17 May 1758 and
executed 2 June 1760. This document names William Cowan, Sr. (his
brother) as one of the executors of the will. So, William Cowan, Sr.
was certainly in Lancaster Co., PA in May 1758, and probably at the date
of execution in June 1760. This would create difficulties (though not
impossibilities) for him being the same William Cowan of the 1759 and
1760 Rowan Co. deeds. William Cowan, Sr. is certainly in Rowan Co. by
1769, however.

This very same will suggests that William, John's son, had removed from
PA. The farm was left to sons Thomas and Henry, whereas sons John and
William receive cash. This suggests that the last 2 sons had
permanently removed from PA (known to be the case with John, and highly
probable for William). So, by the writing of the will, May 1758,
William Cowan, son of John Cowan the immigrant, had probably moved to
NC. He may have purchased land in Rowan Co. in 1759 and/or 1760, and a
William Cowan married Sarah Stewart there in 1759.

On 15 August 1784 William and Sarah Cowan sold to Matthew Stewart (her
brother?) 426 acres on the north side of Second Creek. William and
Sarah left Rowan Co. after this date.

In 1786 he received a grant for 200 acres in Wilkes Co., GA, and in
1788, received a grant for 250 acres. more. In 1790, his widow, Sarah,
is listed on the tax rolls of Wilkes Co., GA (now part of Oglethorpe
Co.), indicating that William Cowan had died c. 1789. In 1791, his
estate was probated in Wilkes Co., though the actual will book is lost.
The family is found in Oglethorpe Co. tax and census records, 1798-1801,
and in Jackson Co., GA tax and deed records, 1804+.

In 1807, the heirs of William Cowan sell his grant, now in Jackson Co.,
though apparently recorded in Vol. E, Page 444 & 445 of the Oglethorpe
Co., GA records.

Sarah Stewart [Parents] 1 was born about 1742 in Pennsylvania.. She died after 1807 in Jackson County, Georgia.. Sarah married William Cowan on 23 Dec 1759 in Rowan County, North Carolina..

I don't think Sara's presumed birth year is correct given the dates of her children's birth.  If she really had her first child in 1760 and her last in 1791, she would have to have been born in 1745 (age 15 for the first child and 46 for the last).

I think the first two children listed for her are the children of some other Sarah Stewart.

Her mother is listed as Elizabeth but Elizabeth might have been her step-mother.
